Other uses for Swing
General purpose controller
The Swing hardware is a general purpose two axis motion controller powered by an internal Li Ion battery charged automatically when connected to a USB port.
Combined with DryFire firmware and software it generates moving laser targets to provide practice in the elements of clay shooting: hold, target acquisition, gun mount, shoot and follow through. Unlike DryFire, Swing does not detect the shot or provide hit/miss information.
Bare bones version
With suitable firmware and software the hardware can be used for many other things - the photo at the top of this page shows it used to move a USB camera board.
Important note
The bare bones hardware does not come with DryFire firmware or software.
Wordcraft's support for the bare bones version is limited to hardware alone.
The bare bones PCB has the Arduino bootloader installed and may be programmed as an Arduino Pro Mini with ATmega328P processor running at 5V with a 16MHz clock.
The PCB may be programmed using the Arduino IDE which can be installed under Windows, Apple Mac OS or Linux - which means it can also be programmed from the Raspberry Pi. The Arduino project has also released a web based version so the PCB can be programmed from anything with a USB port - the possibilities are limited only by your imagination!
